Jakob Cansler is a writer and critic based in Washington, DC. He specializes in covering politics and popular culture, and has experience writing breaking news, long-form analysis, criticism, and satire.
Jakob is currently a assistant editor and writer at World Politics Review, an independent global politics analysis site, where he writes about the intersection of international politics and culture. He is also a Day Eight Arts Journalism Fellow, a program through which he reviews local theater for DC Theater Arts.
In 2021, Jakob completed an internship with political magazine Washington Monthly, where he wrote feature-length stories about Virginia's 2021 election, police reform, and Pete Buttigieg, as well as assisting other reporters with fact-checking and research.

Assisted in researching and fact-checking numerous stories related to healthcare payment plans, outer space regulations, and Congressional lobbying by pharmaceutical companies.
